The Rules Of Love –
Every relationship is different, but these are some general rules to role with….
- If you wouldn’t say or do it in front of your spouse (or significant other), don’t do it
- Tell the one you love that you love them EVERY SINGLE DAY
- Love with all you’ve got
- Know when to forgive
- Know when to let go
- If you truly love your spouse when they snore loudly you will resist the urge to smother them with your pillow, or wake them and ask them to move to another room like on the commercials, but instead drag your own already awake lazy butt to another bed, letting your loud snoring partner get their rest
- Know how to enjoy each others company – when out and about, when hanging out,
evenespecially the silent moments - Smile, a simple smile can say so much
- Always stand up for your spouse and don’t ever throw them under the bus….chatting with girlfriends and husband bashing should in no way be related
- Whether or not you agree on something, no matter who’s right or wrong, discuss it behind closed doors (keyword – discuss not argue, yell, fight…) …You are a team, you are one, you stand up for each other, and you stand together, especially in public
- If you wouldn’t want your partner to do it to you, don’t do it to them…whatever it is…
- Laugh
- Be yourself and be true to yourself
- Don’t confuse love, lust, like, and general attraction….while the latter 3 can lead to love, they are not love
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
